December cruising…

After we got home from Green Bay the Friday after Thanksgiving, we finished packing our bags and headed for the airport to fly to Orlando, FL. We arrived at the hotel after ten p.m. Long day since we were up at 4 in Green Bay to get home at a decent time.

Up early the next day to take the shuttle to the airport to catch a bus to Port Canaveral to board the Carnival Sunshine. We got on board, checked into our rooms, and then went in search for our friends, Dave and Deb. Turns out, they were sitting at the lobby bar waiting for us to arrive and somehow missed us and we missed them. Also at the lobby bar was once of our favorite Carnival bartenders, Inessa, and she remembered us. Imagine that!

Our itinerary was an 11 day Eastern Caribbean Cruise – taking us to Grand Turk, St Thomas, Tortola, St Kitts, Dominica, St Lucia, Antigua, St Croix and ending up in San Juan where we caught a flight back home.

We booked one excursion on this trip – in Tortola. We saw it by land and sea. We were taken to a boat where they took us around the islands. Saw the Dead Man’s Chest and our guide told us the story of the 15 men on a Dead’s Man chest’s. The captain of a pirate ship found out that 15 of his men were stealing from him so he left them on this island with some rum. I had heard this song before but didn’t realize that it was probably a true story! After we got back to the dock, we boarded an open air bus and were driven through the hills of Tortola and there were some steep ones with narrow roads. It wasn’t the best excursion we’ve ever been on, but it was an interesting one.

I took this picture of our guide who told us the story of the Dead Man’s Chest Island…

When he saw that I was taking a picture, he stopped his commentary and posed for me!
